Gravatar broken?
By AndrewBoyd • Jan 30th, 2008 • Category: Blogging tipsI’m having an issue joining Gravatar.
Riddle me this one - I’m trying to add an avatar to my Gravatar account (this being the whole point - that the avatar should follow me onto the many and varied Gravatar-friendly blogs out there). What I see is this screen:
![]()
I clicked on the photo that I wanted to use. Double clicked it. Tried to drag it up onto the email address. No joy.
The interaction designer in me is screaming some questions… Where is the “OK” button? Do I assume by the red outline that there is something wrong with my avatar picture? Is it because I am tired and can’t mind-read the totally non-existent instructions?
And to think… I was only commenting on a friend’s blog a little while ago that Web 2.0 is usually implemented inhumanely
Does anyone know how this stupid thing is supposed to work and can fill me in?

What browser are you using? I did it the other day (and just checked then) - when you click on the image once, you get an ajaxy (?) screen pop up asking you to confirm or cancel. FWIW, I did it in Firefox.
Hi Meg,
I tried it in Firefox 2.0.0.11 and IE7. Best regards, Andrew
I got the same thing as Meg - just tried it then. When I clicked on the avatar I wanted it got a red border like yours and then a blue, lightbox style popup asking me to confirm.
Not sure if that helps you really. Sorry!
Hi Guera,
I’ll try again as soon as I can - with squillions of people using gravatars there must be some way to make things happen
Cheers, Andrew
