The Aussie Entrecard Conspiracy

By AndrewBoyd • Jan 9th, 2008 • Category: Blogging tips

Well, it’s not really a conspiracy in that we’re not linkswapping, but there are a group of us on the Australian Bloggers Forum who use Entrecard to promote our blogs. You can see the Entrecard widget in my left hand sidebar - it advertises a different Entrecard user blog every day.

Entrecard is a way of advertising your blog on other blogs - advertising costs points, gained by:

  • dropping your entrecard on other blogs,
  • when other people drop their entrecard on your blog, and
  • you advertise other blogs.

There is a variety of other ways to get points - including swapping them for goods and services - if you’re interested, look at the Entrecard site.Janet from Discovering Australia has a list of Australian blogs using Entrecard:

You can see that there are quite a range of blogs represented - from the very new right through to Problogger.net.

Are you using Entrecard and living in Australia? If you aren’t in the list, let me know, and I will add your blog URL.

UPDATE: The people have spoken and I have responded - to Janet’s list it is my great pleasure to add:

  1. Andrew - you can add me to that list.

  2. *sob* How come I’m not on the list?????? *sob*

  3. Hi Ian, and Lightening,

    done! Added :)
I was just working off Janet’s list - will keep an eye on the forums from now on, promise :)
    Cheers, Andrew

  4. Thanks Andrew. :-)

I can’t seem to find your entrecard widget which means I can’t drop a card for you. Are you still using it?

  5. Hi Lightening,

strangely, the Aussie Blogger’s Forum icon in the right hand sidebar forced the left hand sidebar out and down - don’t ask me why :)
Fixed now, Entrecard is visible above the fold again.

    Best regards, Andrew

  6. Yep, all looks good now. I wasn’t sure if it was my browser as I’ve had trouble with some other sites. I had to resize the ABF icon for my own sidebar.

  7. Hi Lightening,

    thanks :)
This is what comes of adding things in a hurry and not checking them - weird stuff happens (inevitable) that I didn’t notice (very evitable!).

Just updating the other post for the changed size in the code now.

    Best regards, Andrew

  8. […] glad to be part of the Aussie Entrecard Conspiracy with Lightening and the other folks While we’re on the subject, check out what Entrecard had […]

  9. another aussie blog here..

  10. Hi James,

    done :)
Feel free to jump onto the Australian Bloggers Forum Entrecard thread and add yourself there too - or let me know and I will :)
    Best regards, Andrew

  11. I see now that they have a tab on the campaigns page which lists the nearest blogs to you, based on location. Could be useful?

  12. Hi Ian,

bloody oath it could be useful :)

I wish they’d send an email out to all users when they add a useful feature like this - I for one would be very happy to receive them! :)

    Best regards, Andrew

  13. There’s also a nice new table at the bottom of the stats page that tells you the clicks per credit for the ads you’ve run. I think it shows the top 10 or something like that.

  14. Thanks Ian,

another very good idea from the Entrecard crew. It would be interesting if they moved to a little more sophisticated analytics setup, and maybe allowed common access to the information (so that everyone could tell who the best ad deals are).

    Best regards, Andrew
