On Blogging Australia

Aussie Bloggers, Aussie Blogs

NaBloPoMo roundup

By AndrewBoyd • Dec 2nd, 2007 • Category: Aussie Blogger

I took yesterday off from blogging entirely - well, almost, I did read some feeds and checked out how Facibus On Blogging and this blog are doing on the Top 100 Australian Blogs list. November was a long month for me in many ways, and the break yesterday was interesting in that I was sure that I deserved it but felt weird anyway.

I planned to profile all members of The Aussies. When I made the plans, there were 29 members of The Aussies so I thought I would be fine. Member numbers grew to 43. These things happen.

I did get to profile:

I make that 27 - I feel mostly OK about it even if I didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped, and I will try to get more done next year.
And my apologies to the people I missed:

That totals 40, which is a bit of a worry - I know that a couple of people are in twice, but if I’ve missed you again please tell me.

What have I got out of it? I’m reading more Australian blogs now than ever, and I’ve made some new blog friends (and revisited several existing friendships). I’ve got a heap of posting ideas out of it, and had fun.

Will I do it again next year? You bet :)

  1. Stellar work. People like you and Meg really help to link people. With so many blogs, good and bad it is great to have authoratative opinions on ideas for reading. I struggle as it is to follow the blogs I like, post on my own blog and continue to have a relationship with my family and oh yes, there is work.

  2. Thanks Colin,

    you are most welcome :)
Connecting people is a hobby of mine - I get pleasure from it. I don’t do it nearly so well as Meg, but I am learning from her. I’m learning how to have a laugh and share it from you.

Life, work, and family can certainly get in the way of blogging - it is one of the recurrent themes in blogs about blogging (well, any that I’ve ever written, anyhow) :)
I figure it could be worse - we could be down the pub every night instead.

    Best regards, Andrew

  3. Oooh! Popped in to comment (my ears must have been burning) ;) I was just going to say what a phenomenal effort you put in during NaBloPoMo :) You certainly enticed me to visit some of the blogs that I had seen around, but had not really made the time to visit.

Having discovered Kelley’s blog this month we should both be learning how to laugh!

    Thanks

  4. Hi Meg,

thank you for your comment :)
I think that Kelley is a classic - she takes the mommyblogger thing and says what a lot of others infer but never quite commit to paper.

And I am certainly learning a lot from you in how to connect people using blogging.

    Thanks, Andrew

  5. Well done Andrew! ;) You did a fantastic job. I found a lot of great new blogs here..

    Cheers,

  6. Hi Snos,

thank you :) I am feeling OK about it now, just felt bad yesterday that I hadn’t got to everyone as I’d planned.

    Best regards, Andrew

  7. Oh Andrew and Meg, you make me blush :) And as you know it takes a lot to make me blush!

I am with everyone else in congratulating you Andrew on a stellar job, would have been hard to profile so many different bloggers with style and grace.

Now get your butt over to my blog RIGHT NOW and put in your name for my husband, cause I am running a comp to name him now the mo is gone. And your name for him is fabulous!

    This is the post:

  8. Hi Kelley,

you are one of the reasons I loved NaBloPoMo so much - I look forward to reading your every post.

I’ve responded over on Magneto Bold Too. Poor bastard :)
    Best regards, Andrew
