Thiru writes Keep Walking!

Thiru is a regular reader here at On Blogging Australia - I thought that it was a shame that he had no friends on NaBloPoMo so I added him. Everyone needs friends :)

He writes about things that he is thankful forlots of  jokes, and the A-Z of his life.

Thiru’s about me page is one of the longest and most interesting I’ve seen. Read it and find out more about him - a lot more :)

  1. Thanks, Andrew. Bit embarrassing to read about myself. Yes, I have been thinking that I am not interacting enough with fellow bloggers. In fact, all your blogs are in my reader. Will be in touch. Cheers,

  2. Hi,
I have just discovered your blog and look forward to reading through your profiles on different blogs. I have to admit I haven’t done as well as I had hoped at reading other nablopomo bloggers blogs as I had hoped this month. It’s a lot to keep up with (well I was writing a novel for nanowrimo as well…). We need a national blog commenting month don’t we (or something similar)? Or is there already one of those and I haven’t heard of it?

If you don’t mind me asking, how do you get that snapshot of a blog to come up in your page? Is it hard to do? (I’m reasonably “clueless” I’m afraid - when it comes to technical stuff I mean). I’ve just started a new blog and want to review tiny little bloggers who find it really hard to get exposure (even though I’m sort of still pretty small myself) and something like those page views would be fantastic! :-)

  3. Hi Thiru,

sorry, could have sworn that I’d responded to this comment yesterday, my apologies.

I believe that interaction is important - the whole blogosphere is one big group writing project and without interaction it just isn’t the same.

Thank you for being a loyal and supportive reader :)
    Best regards, Andrew

  4. Hi Lightening,

    thank you for your comment.

Life gets complicated sometimes and it is easy to end up with no time to blog.

I’ve not heard of a national commenting month but it sounds like fun - start it and send me an invite and I will sign up :)
As to the blog snapshots - I use screen capture (either alt-printscreen on Windows machines or the Grab utility in Mac OSX, depending on which operating system I am using at the time), then reduce the size to about 500 pixels across, then export to GIF, then just upload it to the right article using the normal WordPress editor. Let me know if this doesn’t make sense and I’ll write a post on it ASAP.

    Best regards, Andrew

  5. Okay - you lost me at about “alt-printscreen”. LOL. Sorry. A post would be wonderful if and when you have time. :-) Should I have a “printscreen” button on my keyboard? I just know that’s probably a dumb question but I’ll ask it anyway. LOL. I’m using Windows.

  6. Hi Lightening,

I’ll certainly write that article :)
But for now - unless you have a weird laptop configuration there will be a printscreen button on your keyboard - usually on the top right hand side above the insert/delete/home/pageup/pagedown keys. If this fails, let me know what sort of machine it is and I’ll find out for you.

The step I didn’t mention above is that you need to paste the screen capture into an image editing program like Photoshop, Fireworks or PaintShopPro.

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards, Andrew

  7. Ooh, I found a button that says “Prt Sc” which may just be it!!!! How excitement! (can you tell small things excite me? LOL). I have to go out now but I’m going to give your instructions a try when I get home and see how far I get. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
