Golly, Jeanette, I think I’m having an election!

Hi Andrew
The Australian Federal election has been called for 24th November 2007.
Due to changes in electoral laws if people’s details on the electoral
roll are wrong they won’t be allowed to vote. Please urge your Aussie blog readers to read this article
http://www.bhatt.id.au/blog/enrol-and-register-to-vote -you-can-make-a-difference/ so they know how to fix their details and be able to vote.
I contacted you because I know that as a fellow top 100 Aussie blogger
(http://blogpond.com.au/top-100-australian-blogs-index/) you have a
large audienceAlthough I’m politically aligned (Greens candidate for Werriwa) I don’t
mind who you or your readers vote for, as long as people are not
deprived of their right to vote via sneaky legislation.thanks

I wished (and wish) Neerav well with his candidacy. I haven’t always agreed with The Greens 100% but their hearts have been in the right place more often than not. What I would like to see, like Neerav, is that everyone gets the chance to vote whichever way they choose if they choose to do so.
Apart from that, I would like to encourage you to check your electoral enrollment status and if in doubt read Neerav’s advice.

Hehe - love the title
It’s such a nice, genuine email as well. Yay for Neerav for doing the right thing.
Hi Meg,
I would like to take credit for the title, but it must go to the great Larry Pickering, for his classic political cartoon of the 1970s where I think it was Gough Whitlam sitting up in bed, shaking Margaret and saying “Wake up, dear, I think I’m having an Election”

I’m pretty sure that JWH under the same circumstances would say “Golly!”
Best regards, Andrew
Thanks for the link Andrew
I credit Meg for prompting me to send that email as she promotes communication within the Aussie blogger community and I hadn’t really participated in it until her top 100 Aussie bloggers list was launched
PS Andrew your “subscribe to comments” checkbox is missing its explanatory text
Hi Neerav,
thank you for your comment. Meg is indeed a wonderful woman and a fantasic ambassador for Australian blogging.
I will look into the missing explanatory text thing - I installed the subscribe plugin without really looking into it properly.
Best regards, Andrew
The place to go to fix it is:
Wordpress Admin ->Options->Subscribe to Comments
Once there you can customize the messages shown to different people, it may also require some fiddling of your WP template
Thank you Neerav,
that was just the information I required
It should be fixed now.
Best regards, and good luck once again with Werriwa.
Andrew
