Blogging with passion (without excess energy)
By AndrewBoyd • Oct 10th, 2007 • Category: Blogging tipsThe last week or two have been a challenging time for my blogging. I’ve managed to post something to Facibus On Blogging and here every second day or so - rather than both blogs daily.
I’m faced with an interesting situation - I still have the passion to blog, the burn - but without the energy to maintain a daily posting schedule filled with pillar content that I can truly be proud of.
So how do I blog with passion but without excess energy? The term “passion” usually infers a lot of energy - so this is something of a conundrum. Is it possible to have passion without a lot of energy to spare?
How am I working with this? How am I getting by with what I have?
It is a bit like blogging when you’re ill - doing the minimum possible to get by - and for me this has meant:
- accepting that a daily posting schedule is not sustainable,
- writing shorter, less involved posts,
- publishing my very first cute kitten photo, and
- timestamping some posts so that they appear periodically.
I have to say that this does not sit well with me - in blogging, as in my professional life, I want to go far beyond good enough. Good enough is OK only in small doses when you aspire to be truly remarkable. It is not sustainable - because I am a muser, I know that I can only achieve this remarkability through consistent publishing of good pillar content over a long period of time.

I think a simple daily feature is a good option.
My thought of the day means something gets posted every day, regardless.
During NaBloPoMo, how about highlighting one Australian blog each day? You don’t necessarily have to write a lot, you can just link with a short synopsis and maybe a screenshot of the blog, if you wanted to put an image there. You can sit down and write one weeks’ worth of posts in a sitting, which would probably take 30 mins to an hour depending on your typing speed and general skills.
Then, you can focus more on your quality posts - two posta a day from time to time won’t scare anyone away, especially if the second is great content.
It would be an excellent way for the rest of us to find more Aussie bloggers, too.
Just a thought!

Hi Snos,
thank you for your comment

I like the idea of a daily feature - and I think that this is an easier thing for the “news” bloggers than the “musers” like you and I
I like the idea of the daily blog highlight - thank you.
Best regards, Andrew
