Moblogging from Oz-IA
By AndrewBoyd • Sep 20th, 2007 • Category: Aussie BloggerIt’s 8:45PM, I’m home from work and I’m just about to start packing to go to Oz-IA - the Australian Information Architecture Conference - held at the Mercure on Broadway in Sydney. Officially it starts Saturday but the Friday evening is a great networking/catchup opportunity.
I’m not sure how much time I’ll have for regular blogging-on-blogging with all the geeking out over cognitive psychology and Web 2.0-ness over the next couple of days, but if I do, it will be from the phone or from my laptop. There was a hellish amount of geekstorming at last year’s conference - people instant messaging one another comments and reference links during the presentations so that they could challenge/support the speakers, people blogging about what was happening around them. I’m not sure how much of this I can take before I just sit and listen to the presentations, but it is astonishing to see how involved people get and how much buzz there is around the more popular talks. There’s a business side to it too - swapping business cards and LinkedIn addresses like Shuriken (Ninja throwing stars).
I’m looking forward to presentations by some of my favourite IA bloggers - Donna Maurer, Steve Collins and Matt Hodgson amongst others.
It should be fun.
