AuctionAds for Aussies
By AndrewBoyd • Aug 30th, 2007 • Category: Blogging tipsThere is a conversation going on over at the BUMPzee Australian Blogs Community at the moment around AuctionAds. Basically, AuctionAds works by placing contextual auction site advertisements into a widget that you can place within a blog template. Generally, people are more likely to click ads within a niche they are interested in - and I don’t have a lot of product-based content that I could tie ads to. That said, Sea Eagle says that thoughtful placement can still work in a non-product specific blog - and that there are ways to overcome the USA-specific nature of AuctionAds.
I’m trialling AuctionAds at the moment over at WiiForMii. It is the closest thing I have to a product based blog. 24 hours into the experiment and I’ve had four adviews and no clicks. Early days yet
Scott Andrew Bird gives some AuctionAds tips:
- Set a minimum and maximum price
- Define keywords automatically
- Display AuctionAds alongside Adsense
- Target a specific seller’s auctions
- Automatically rotate your keywords
- Use negative (‘stop’) keywords
- Link to specific auctions
