Coles’ Postmodern 20 cent piece
By AndrewBoyd • Aug 16th, 2007 • Category: Australian OddI felt something snagging in my pocket as Helen and I walked out of Coles’ supermarket Woden this evening. I was feeling a bit weary after CeBIt and a busy work day so I hadn’t noticed the change I’d been handed. This is what it was:

This used to be an Australian 20 cent piece. Someone has hit this thing repeatedly with a hammer until the edges are serrated. If you were Bruce Lee you could probably use this as a weapon
I’m still not sure if this is a rant or just a wierd life-moment. In a service-oriented world, it is probably wrong for a staff member to hand a member of the public something so obviously damaged, but it is beautiful in its own flawed way. I’ll keep it.
Maybe if I talk it up enough it’ll be worth something on eBay
